Second Job Interviews

Making it to the second job interview is a huge step in your job search. An invite to a 2nd job interview means that your qualifications and the way you conducted yourself in the first round of interviews impressed the interviewer.

Second Interview Tips: Do's and Don'ts

After the first interview, ask if there will be additional interviews. If the answer is "yes," ask the interviewer the following questions: What type of interview will it be (e.g. panel, structured interview) and who will you be interviewing with. In addition, ask for a copy of the job description (If it's not readily available on the Internet).

When called for a second interview, don't feel overconfident or let your guard down. A second interview may mean that you'll be offered the job OR it may mean that the second interview is part of an ongoing series of interviews. It's essential to remember that there will be other candidates invited to a second interview.

Dress as professionally as you did for the first interview. Professional business attire is required...business casual or plain casual attire is unacceptable.

Second interview questions won't vary from traditional interview questions. What may change is the format of the interview. As explained in the first bullet, ask the interviewer the type of interview you should expect.
