Stress Interview
A stress interview
is a type of interview where hiring managers deliberately make the
interview uncomfortable. A stress interview can be part of other
interviews (panel, peer, traditional, situational). This article
will focus on stress interview job interview tips and sample stress
interview questions.
What to
Expect During Stress Interviews & Interview Tips
The interviewer
ignores the job candidate when he or she enters the room. The hiring
manager starts reading a newspaper or their email. This is to
throw candidates off. The interviewer wants to see how candidates
react to unusual circumstances.
When you encounter
this situation, you have two choices:
(1) remain silent
until the interviewer addresses you;
(2) begin talking about your experience;
(3) call out the interviewer. Call out the interviewer for the
stress interview tactics. One way is to say: "Is this
a stress interview? Because if you're concerned about how I manage
stressful situations, bring me on board for a probationary period
and see how I perform firsthand." When you choose this
approach, your tone should demonstrate you aren't offended by
the stress. Instead, you are intrigued by the prospect of
working for a company that poses many challenges.
Whatever your
method, your demeanor should remain confident. Allowing the
interviewer to get to you will negatively affect your interview
performance.

Interview Questions
Why should I hire
you? You don't have the right qualifications?
Let me be straight here: there are other candidates I'm interviewing
and you aren't going to make the shortlist unless you start
providing accomplishments that will blow the others out of the
water.
Tell me about a time you failed. Don't tell me that you never failed
at a project because if that's the case, that means you never took
chances in your career. (On a side note, this is a behavioral
interview question).
